McAyla Wins a Pride of Britain Award 2011 for Teenager of
Courage. Her award was presented by JLS and was flown out to LA to meet David Beckham. McAyla takes it all in her stride.

McAyla was a 2011 Pride of Britain Award winner. Pride
of Britain celebrates the achievements of truly remarkable people who make our world a better place. It's the biggest
national event of its kind in the UK.
DAVID Beckham gave a teenager the surprise of her life – when he told
her she had netted one of the Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards. Football-mad McYala Johnston, 14, flew to
LA with sister Ashley, 21, after mum Terri, 41, pretended she’d won the trip in a TV competition. But as they were being
shown round LA Galaxy’s stadium, Becks (David Beckham), 36, burst in and said: “I’m looking for McAyla Johnston.”

Hosted by Carol Vorderman, our Awards attract an audience of around seven million viewers every
year in a primetime slot on the ITV1 network in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - making it the highest rated
awards show of its kind on British television. It also receives huge coverage on Daybreak, the ITV1 network, the national
press, national and regional radio and national magazines. Many of the biggest names in showbusiness, sport and politics
attend the glittering annual ceremony at the London Television Centre. McAyla was presented with award on stage by JLS, who
called her a "battler".
