NATIONAL CAMPAIGN
Come on people lets get a crossing outside EVRY
SCHOOL in the UK, yes a big task but with your help it can be done. Childrens lives are at stake here and we can at least
give them a chance to cross the road in a safe manner to get to school.
Please see the page Kids Cross Safely and sign the petition to 10 Downing Street. Lets see what we can do, see if we can play our small part.
CROSSING 2009 Version
(Updated 21st JUNE 2009)
Well this is actually my 2008 campaighn but it needs to become the
2009 campaighn too. It seems that we are having to WAIT for the crossing to go in. Early 2009 we were told. Works currently
during MAY at the crossing are for new pipes and not the crossing.
YET NOTHING
!........................WAIT!
Crossing works starting 22nd June 2009, they have started to work on the crossing at the lights.
It will take around 6 weeks. SO PLEASE BE PATIENT while waiting in the traffic, your 10 min wait may mean a life is SAVED.
EMAIL
RECEIVED FROM A PARENT TODAY 22nd APRIL 2009
" I'm a concerned parent who has two
children at Nunnery Wood and one at Redhill, all of which have to cross this awful junction every day. I've just spoken
to Dave Clee (after being given the run around) who told me that they are just finishing the final design, and that he will
be briefing two contractors imminently, with a view to installing the new crossings during the summer holidays ready for the
start of the autumn term. He informed me that there will be a crossing across the end of Wyld's Lane and another
across London Road outside the old carpet shop with a modified central reservation. Hope this is useful.
Regards,
Andy......"
THIS IS GOOD NEWS.......THANKS ANDY.
So please lets start the campaighn
up again and get them to say WHEN it is going in and what the delay is. It is time that they sort out what is going on. Please
write to your local MP or send and email to Mr Prodger. The council were eager to be in the paper saying they are going to
do somthing yet..........we wait ?
I think they dont quite understand the desire
to get this done, SO LETS SHOW THEM !, EMAIL THEM and lets
get answers
17th February:
Response from Mr Prodger
"Thank you for your email, this crossing is now being
designed by our Consultants Hal crow because of the complexity of having to deal with Texaco Express
Garage,Seabright Ave,Wylds Lane,Lark Hill London Rd,and the School pupils etc etc, so as you are well
aware it is not straight forward, but it well under way."

Councillor
Derek Prodger has requested that I respond to you relating to your recent enquiry.
We are actively working on getting a final design
for the signalised junction to include full pedestrian crossing facilities. Unfortunately it is not simply a matter of installing
the equipment, there are numerous factors that need to be considered to ensure that the final outcome
is going to be the safest we can achieve for all road users. I am also aware that there is a need to address problems between
Wylds lane and the railway bridge, so it makes sense to ensure that any work we might need to do in the area is encompassed into a single scheme. Ultimately, although it means spending a little longer exploring the solution(s)
it will result in better use of public monies whilst at the same time reducing delays to traffic during any necessary works.
I remain hopeful though that we can pull all this information together in the very near future. I suppose I can
only liken it to redecorating a property, if you don’t do the preparation properly, you end up with a disappointing
result.
I hope this information is of some help, I can assure you that the crossing in
Wylds Lane is being progressed, something that Councillor Prodger is anxiously keeping an eye on.
Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if there is any
further information you require.

We are STILL waiting for this critical works to be done, enough is enough. Someone needs to pull finger out
and get these works done. It cant take this long to get a crossing at a junction that serves at least 1 primary school and
2 high schools!!, it is a complex junction yet that is why they get paid the BIG BUCKS............YET on the 24th NOVEMBER 2008 this was told to the Worecster news! "Coun Prodger told councillors he accepted there was a problem and that his transport team
is currently assessing the junction.
He said: “We are, of
course, aware of the unfortunate injury incident and are investigating the provision of additional pedestrian facilities.
It is expected the study will be completed within one month."
One
month they would have completed the study!, COME ON PEOPLE.
